Announcing Our New Corporate Partner, City Fitness

The Independence Business Alliance is thrilled to welcome City Fitness as a Silver Corporate Partner.

City Fitness shared the following statement with us regarding our new partnership:

City Fitness is more than a gym; we’re a community. With an established commitment to building healthy communities inside and outside our facilities and providing the most cutting-edge programs, equipment, and technology to our members. Our rapidly-growing portfolio of health clubs and network of partners in the Greater Center City Philadelphia area has established the City Fitness brand as the leading local fitness authority.

Since opening its first club in Northern Liberties in 2007, City Fitness now has nearly 10,000 members and will open its fifth club in 2016 and its sixth and largest club in 2017 – a 40,000 square foot facility located at 18th and JFK Blvd. A locally-owned company, City Fitness will in 2017 exceed 100 full-time-equivalent employees and projects to exceed $10mm in revenue for the first time in its history.

In terms of public relations, City Fitness was in 2016 featured on network news for its innovative marketing practice by ABC, CBS and FOX, and in print and online by Philadelphia Magazine and Philly Weekly. City Fitness has also established an ongoing and dynamic partnership with Philadelphia Eagles’ Linebacker Connor Barwin through his foundation, the Make The World Better Project, and other public and private sector partners in their work renovating public parks for youth in Philadelphia’s underserved communities.
As evidenced by its community relations and locally-focused expansion strategy, City Fitness is community-focused and open to anyone who seeks self-improvement, both in terms of its membership and employment base. City Fitness has a strong history of support for and alliance with the LGBT community, and is excited that its partnership with the IBA will highlight that historical commitment.
