The Independence Business Alliance (IBA) and Delaware Valley Legacy Fund (DVLF), in partnership with LinguiSearch, Inc., offer an annual scholarship to benefit a local, undergraduate student currently enrolled in a business related discipline within the Philadelphia region.
Applications will be reviewed and selected by a small committee of IBA and DVLF Board members, as well as representatives of the IBA member business community. Both DVLF and the IBA view this collaboration as a tremendous opportunity to work together, enabling a community-minded and business-focused student to take one step closer to their goals. For more information on either organization, visit www.ThinkIBA.com or www.DVLF.org.
With the generous support of founding donor LinguiSearch, the Business Scholarship Award has already helped three worthy student recipients. And thanks to a donation from the Balleroy Initiative, our organizations have begun the efforts to build an endowment that will benefit the student business leaders of tomorrow.
The $2,500 scholarship is awarded for educational expenses to include tuition, books and supplies, and/or room and board. Where possible, the scholarship funds will be payable on the student’s behalf directly to the school.
To be eligible to receive this award, an applicant must be (1) a self-identified LGBTQ student OR an allied student supportive of the LGBTQ community; (2) currently enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in the Greater Philadelphia region (this includes Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware counties in PA; Mercer, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties in NJ; and New Castle County in DE); (3) working toward an undergraduate degree in a business program/major and (4) able to demonstrate leadership roles.
Applicants are reviewed on the basis of academic credentials, business interest, a letter of recommendation, leadership potential and roles, community service and involvement, financial need, future career goals, and an interview (when applicable).
For purposes of this award, a business program includes, but may not be limited to: Business Management, Finance, Leadership, Organizational Development, Organizational Dynamics, Entrepreneurship, Economics, and/or Accounting, or any combination of major/minor encompassing these subject areas.
IBA, DVLF and LinguiSearch, Inc. employees, board members and their immediate families are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Applications for the 2017 scholarship are open now.
On behalf of both organizations, we wish you the best of luck in the application process!
