Job Description

Our client, a regional, full service law firm in business for 100 years, located in Philadelphia, PA is seeking an experience Litigation Legal Secretary to join their team!  Along with 12 observed holidays, and 2 floating holidays, working for this company, will entitle a new hire to immediate perks such as 3 weeks vacation, 49 hours of sick time, and 2 personal days. Additionally, our client has strong roots in the area and practices the value they preach.   As a result, turnover within this firm is very rare, so a chance at this position is an amazing opportunity.  We are looking for experience within the following areas (experience in all is not required!): Class Action Defense, Commercial Litigation, Pharmaceutical, Product Liability, Toxic Torts, Cyber Security.

Duties:

  • Communicates via telephone, by email and other correspondence with clients and other external constituencies as well as others who work within the Firm.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and organizes meetings. 
  • Creates and transcribes legal documents, correspondence, contracts or briefs. 
  • Proofreads and edits prepared documents for accuracy. 
  • Enters and closes time per the attorney’s preference.
  • Manages and processes bills along with a representative from the Financial Services Department.
  • Prepares and submits expense reimbursements on behalf of attorneys.
  • Maintains open communication with the Manager of Secretarial Services regarding assignments, workflow and attendance.
  • Provides service throughout the Firm as needed per the request of the Manager of Secretarial Services.
  • Prepares documents for electronic court filing and must be experienced and familiar with a various Court Districts as warranted by the secretarial assignment.
  • Takes part in training sessions as offered by the Firm and seeks education as needed in order to perform required tasks.
  • Organizes travel. 
  • May maintain attorney calendars.  
  • Performs research.
  • Maintains files. 

 

Requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent. 
  • A minimum of three to five years experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant within litigation. 
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as experience in working with styles and document comparison software.
  • Minimum typing speed of 60 WPM
  • Experience and understanding of various Court Districts as related to their electronic filing systems and procedures.
