DVLF

DVLF is the leading funder of emerging needs in the lgbtq community in the Greater Philadelphia area. We distribute funds to Greater Philadelphia LGBTQ serving organizations to meet the needs defined by the community. The organization was created in 1993 to benefit the Philadelphia region’s LGBTQ community by raising money for a permanent endowment fund. DVLF fosters positive change every year through advocacy, grantmaking, scholarships, programming, and education. DVLF holds a unique place in the region’s and the nation’s history. The organization was formed by a group of LGBTQ activists in response to the HIV/AIDS crisis. In over twenty years of service, the DVLF has grown from just an idea into an endowment of over $1.6 million dollars, with a 12 million dollar pipeline. To this day, DVLF stays true to the vision of its founders by providing funding to LGBTQ organizations through its community-driven grantmaking programs.   In addition, we promote philanthropy through our popular events. Each December, we partner with the HIV/AIDS clinic at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to put on our popular TOY event. TOY which has been voted “Philadelphia’s Best LGBTQ fundraiser” raises money for DVLF and collects toys and resources for the young patients at CHOP. In the spring, our annual HEROES event celebrates youth, adults, straight-allies, and businesses that have acted courageously in advancing the rights of LGBTQ people in our region. Lastly, each month, we host Our Night Out, a networking happy hour that connects various non-profit organizations with businesses and members in our community. This popular event draws over 300 people every month at venues such as The Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, The Barnes Foundation and the National Constitution Center. This year it was named “Best of Philadelphia” by Philadelphia Magazine.
